Dr. Philip Nation

Dr. Philip Nation is the Lead Pastor for First Baptist Church of Bradenton, Florida. He is also the Assistant Professor of Leadership and Biblical Studies for Houston Baptist University. Philip holds a Doctor of Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Philip has written and edited numerous books and articles. Philip is the author of Habits for Our Holiness: How the Spiritual Disciplines Grow Us Up, Draw Us Together, and Send Us Out. He is the coauthor of Compelled by Love: The Most Excellent Way to Missional Living with Ed Stetzer and its revised version Compelled: Living the Mission of God (2012). He also coauthored Transformational Discipleship: How People Really Grow with Eric Geiger and Michael Kelley. He also wrote the small group studies Storm Shelter: Encountering God in the Psalms, Crazy Grace for Crazy Times with Derwin Gray. Compelled by Love: The Journey to Missional Living, and Live in the Word. He was a contributing author to The Great Commission Resurgence: Fulfilling God’s Mandate in Our Lifetime. He is the general editor of The Mission of God Study Bible. Additionally, he has edited and holds uncredited contributions to numerous other books.

Philip is a frequent speaker in churches and conferences. He has served as a pastor, minister of education, and church planter. From 2010 to 2012, Philip served as the national spokesperson for the “National Back to Church Sunday” campaign from Outreach.

Philip is married to Angie and father to their two sons, Andrew and Chris.
